BrainBOK's CAPM exam

Hi everyone.

Been studying like a mad man since late August and I feel like with the help of BrainBOK and other reference materials I am ready for the CAPM exam, which I scheduled on the 3rd of November. My question to anyone is how close is the CAPM exam BrainBOK offers in comparison to the real CAPM exam? When I first took it, I failed, then over time progressively got better up to over 80%. (Can't remember the exact score off the top of my head) I certainly hope BrainBOK's is harder! Would love to hear some input from anyone who can relate.

edit: I scored a 51% my first time and I took it three times after and the median score was a 76.

BrainBOK CAPM is slightly more difficult than the real deal. When you got 51% on the first attempt, you were on the margin i.e. had you taken the real exam at that point, you could have fallen on either side of the passing mark. I'm sure that now, with more practice, you may be able to cross the line.

Generally, the first attempt pass rate on that exam is around 25% i.e. only 1 in 4 pass on their first attempt. The average score on the first attempt is around 50%.

Thank you Harwinder. It gives me some perspective. Love your ITTO quizzes and have been doing excellent on those. Brought my all time score of a 60% to 71% within a month. So I'm learning! I'll come back and let you know how I did.

I passed! Was easier than I thought. Definitely BRAINBOK's CAPM exams are much much tougher. I owe it to your quizzes really. Without really understanding the ITTO's, I would have missed a lot more. Use logic people and understand the process and you'll do fine. Thanks Harwinder, I'll be back for the PMP once I get my hours in.

First attempt pass rate: 12%

First attempt average score: 49%

First attempt top score: 81%

BrainBOK CAPM® Practice exam

First attempt pass rate: 13%

First attempt average score: 50%

First attempt top score: 72%

Formula Challenge Exam

First attempt pass rate: 6%

First attempt average score: 40%

First attempt top score: 68%

Mastering PMBOK® Guide Exam

First attempt pass rate: 39%

First attempt average score: 56%

First attempt top score: 92%

I'm baaaack. Studying again for my PMP. I sorta wish I knew what my study hours were for CAPM last year as I feel like I studied a lot more then than I am now for the PMP. Harwinder, do your %'s still hold true today for the pass rate/average score? I'm in the middle of the first PMP exam you have so I will be curious to see where I stand once complete.

Also, I am assuming based on history that your exam is MUCH harder than the PMP exam offered by PMI?

Welcome back!

I'll need to run the analysis tool to get the metrics for the updated exams (based on PMBOK 5). It would be based on about 6-7 weeks of data as the switch was made on Aug 31, 2013.

BrainBOK PMP® Practice Exam

First attempt pass rate: 6%

First attempt average score: 45%

First attempt top score: 69%

BrainBOK CAPM® Practice exam

First attempt pass rate: 2%

First attempt average score: 43%

First attempt top score: 64%

Formula Challenge Exam

First attempt pass rate: 5%

First attempt average score: 36%

First attempt top score: 61%

Mastering PMBOK® Guide Exam

First attempt pass rate: 21%

First attempt average score: 48%

First attempt top score: 84%

It seems that the scores have dropped across the board. It could be because folks are still unfamiliar with PMBOK 5 and there isn't enough training material (books, sample exams etc.) available in the market yet to adequately prepare them for the exam.

Great stuff! I averaged a 49% on my first attempt and then a 69% on the second. I hope that is good news!
