help regarding on below understanding

On PMBOK chapter 4 "integration" in "direct and mange project execution" process (page no 83). I am getting confuse with below points, can someone please. Explain this........

1. Establish and manage project communication channel, both external and internal to the project team.
2. Manage risks and implement risk response activities.

Direct and Manage project execution is an Integration process that involves communication management and risk management, among other things, during project execution.
